A Father's Commitment And Prayer
Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
Psalm 103:13 (NASB)
He that has knowledge spares his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
Proverbs 17:27
This prayer of commitment was authored by God and written by Nathaniel K. Brown, AMTC Team Leader. AMTC is blessed to have godly men and women like Nat Brown on staff.

O God, Creator of the Universe, Preserver of your children, God of my fathers, Bearer of my life, I humbly come before you during this special moment.

As I bring myself before you; I vow to entrust my life, my family, my earthly fatherhood to you, as I seek to follow the example of your son, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Please hear my call Father. In my imperfection I cry out to you for your mercy, guidance, and passion to teach us, your children, how to preserve, protect, and raise our families.

Father, help me to be a shining example to my children, my family, my friends, my community, on my job, and ultimately, in the world, of your unending love, mercy, and strength. Under your tutelage, help me to be responsible in using your knowledge and wisdom to be the best father, husband, and Christian, as I ought to be.

Purify my heart Father, cleanse my thoughts, and open my eyes to the wonders of your existence, love, and mercy. Let love and faithfulness never leave my soul, and bind these virtues to my family and children and write them on the tablets of their hearts.

Help my children to develop self-discipline, that they may acquire a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair. And as my children become acceptable in thy sight, Oh Lord, let me be aware of all the things I must do in response to your love. Help me commit my life to be the instrument of your care for my family, and let me be faithful in this commitment.

In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I boldly implore this prayer before you Father.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
