Acting School 2020: The Footgear Of Peace
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
Ephesians 6:14-15 (NKJV)
How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!'
Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)
And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, 'Behold the Lamb of God!'
John 1:36 (NKJV)
Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed...
Revelation 5:5 (NKJV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ:

Are you a lion or a lamb?
Do you wage war or carry peace?
Are you bold or meek?

The correct answer is: 'Yes, all of the above.' Because Jesus played all of these roles in His performance on earth, and so must you.

Consider His marching orders: 'Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves' (Matthew 10:16).

The Apostle Paul puts it this way: 'To the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some' (1 Corinthians 9:22). That's called acting--in its highest order.

To all of mankind, we are the Good News gang. We are 'Ambassadors for Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:20). Our direction? 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men' (Luke 2:14).

We prepare for this role by studying our Script daily. It's the Good Book: the Bible.

By walking among men in the peace of God, our feet are protected from scrapes and thorns, from being stopped in our tracks by enemy attacks.

Because our enemy is no man, no matter how evil he appears. Our real enemy is Satan. Can he work through the cutting remarks of accusers? Yes. So how do we protect ourselves? Toward men: The footgear of peace. Toward Satan: The shield of faith and the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.

Because Satan is powerless against it. 'And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly' (Romans 16:20).

Jesus laid the strategy for our counterattack of war against Satan: The Truth, directly from the Mouth of God: 'Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ...You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.' ' (Luke 4:8).

He also laid the strategy for our counterattack of peace toward men: 'He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His Mouth; He was led as a Lamb to the slaughter' (Isaiah 53:7).

When Jesus rose, Satan fell; it was a forced retreat from the Cross. The resurrection of Christ made his loss permanent.

Because 'A soft answer turns away wrath' (Proverbs 15:1). Because 'Love never fails' (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Because peace is good news. It's an olive branch: a refusal to fight--or even to defend yourself. Because when you don't defend yourself, God does.

For the enemy, that's a war lost. For your witness of Christ, that's a war won--by a glorious display of peace.

## Acting School 2020: The Footgear Of Peace (Part 29)

NOTE: This is a 2020 edit of a 2014 Shine Devotion series, ...Acting School.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
