Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: for whom do you fight? Consider the children, the innocent, the ignorant, the sleeping, the lost, the blind, the sick, the maimed and the imprisoned. You fight for those unable to fight for themselves.*
You fight for the lonely lady next door, the cranky cashier at Walmart, the schoolgirl dressing sexy, the boy jumped into a gang and your bitter boss at work. You fight for teenagers selling themselves short--and even the bad examples they follow.
Because they don't know the enemy. They think it's everyone else--even themselves, but surely not a myth named Satan.
One of his battle strategies is to turn his victims against each other. At the same time, 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2) entices them through media and its stars.
Looking for fulfillment, unwary people buy into his way of happiness by means of idol worship. His price? Their lives, and he is more than willing to give them an extended payment plan. The result?
Idol worshippers give themselves away one day at a time--seeking the joy that eludes them. They follow a trail of breadcrumbs over the river and through the woods.
But the enemy's bread never satisfies for long. Once eaten, they want more and more--leaving them hungrier than before they ate.
God puts it this way:
'Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance' (Isaiah 55:2).
But they haven't read that Line. Nor have they met the Author. Basically, they're starving for the Truth.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: you carry the Truth. You carry their Defense. Jesus carries their offense, and He nailed it to a Cross--so they might be free.
The protection, defense and enlightenment of war-torn civilians is your duty. It is the cross He commands us to carry.
## Acting School 2020: To Protect And Defend The Civilians (Part 21)
* Commentary on Paul as an ambassador in chains: http://biblehub.com/commentaries/ephesians/6-20.htm
NOTE: This is a 2020 edit of a 2014 Shine Devotion series, ...Acting School.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Acting School 2020 series.
