Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.
Consider stars as 'points of light'
(Collins English Dictionary). Actors, models and talent for Christ:You are points of light in Earth's darkness. This shining role is your destiny and duty.
At first glance, some stars seem brighter than others. But we can hardly judge their power.Similarly, the impact of God's performers cannot be measured...
by the size of a spotlight, the position of a credit or the circle of celebrity.Consider the celebrity of Jesus.
In three years, He traveled a circuit of 50-100 miles. That's small by today's standards, and even by the Roman standards of His time.*As a Man, Jesus was a hometown Boy from nowhere important.
He began as a local Star, but He didn't end up that way. No one will ever be more famous. He holds 'The Name which is above every name, that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth' (Philippians 2:9-10).Actors, models and talent for Christ: don't get caught in the frenzy for fame.
Reality shows aren't real. Golden tickets aren't gold and celebrity without Cause is a stronghold at best--and a noose at worst. If your small role moves one heart toward Christ, what is it worth?
So refuse the Siren's song of temptation. It is a death dirge.** God doesn't sing that way.
He'll cry like a lost child looking for a hero, a prodigal looking for the truth or a lonely man looking for a reason to live.Be that Hero.
Be that Truth. Be that Reason. Be Jesus. Is this a small role? Every one of your performances matters more than you know. Every smile. Every kind word. Every good example. So 'Be content with such things as you have.
For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you' ' (Hebrews 13:5). Even more, if you disregard your status, God will regard it Himself:'He who humbles himself will be exalted'
(Matthew 23:12). 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' (Luke 14:11). 'He who humbles himself will be exalted' (Luke 18:14).

NOTE: This is a 2020 edit of a 2014 Shine Devotion series, ...Acting School.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Acting School 2020 series.
