Acting School (Part 27)
The Belt Of Truth
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth...
Ephesians 6:13-14 (NKJV)
If you abide in My Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.
John 16:13 (NKJV)
I will direct their work in truth.
Isaiah 61:8 (NKJV)
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.
Psalm 145:18 (NKJV)
The truthful lip shall be established forever...
Proverbs 12:19 (NKJV)
We serve the 'Lord God of truth' (Psalm 31:5). When we live in His truth, we receive incomparable blessings: protection, freedom, personal guidance, professional direction, nearness to God and the promise of eternity with Him.

As protection, truth is described as a belt. Consider it like a force field from Star Trek. It surrounds us. So nothing harmful can sneak up behind us, or even touch us at all--and everything good stays in place. Where we go, it goes, because we 'Walk in truth.' (3 John 1:4). Tucked safely into this belt of truth is the Sword of the Spirit: the striking force of God.

Truth is defined by the Holy Trinity: the 'God of truth' (Deuteronomy 32:4), the 'Spirit of truth' (John 15:26) and Jesus, Who is 'The way, the truth and the life' (John 14:6).

But slinking around town is 'The father of lies' (John 8:44), 'That serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him' (Revelation 12:9). Gods hates liars.

But this serpent has wings, and he can fly. He has disguises, and he can glow. He is 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2), and his job is 'To steal, to kill and to destroy' (John 10:10). Destroy whom? Mankind and all of God's creation.

How? By 'The cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting' (Ephesians 4:14). By whom? His angels, demons and human spinners: sly men who 'Call evil good and good evil' (Isaiah 5:20). Their spinning wheel is media, and they've woven glistening lies into the dense fabric of the worldwide web.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Put on God's belt of truth each morning. Pray it into position. Don't leave home without it. You need His no-fail navigation system to keep you from harm and headed in the right Direction. You won't find it on a belt hook, but in the Good Book--and by His Spirit through His Son.
