Acting School (Part 6)
Our Audience Includes...?
To make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God Who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord...
Ephesians 3:9-11 (NKJV)
He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.
Psalm 91:11 (NAS)
And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.'
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
The Bible says 'We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses' (Hebrews 12:1). In re-reading Ephesians 3:10, I was floored: 'To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.'

Really? Do we, His church as the body of Christ, have something to show the angels? Something they don't already know? Yes! God clearly states that our revelation of the mystery of His Gospel is a revelation to them as well.*

Therein, our audience is not just people, it's also the principalities and powers of Heaven itself--including angels.

Consider: God, Satan and angels watch us. 'The Eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good' (Proverbs 15:3. See also 2 Chronicles 16:9; 1 Peter 3:12). 'The Lord said to Satan, 'From where do you come?' So Satan answered the Lord and said, 'From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it' ' (Job 1:7. See also 1 Peter 5:8).

Consider The Great Commission of Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15. We're told to preach the Gospel to every creature. Creatures are anything created. Creatures are more than men. Creatures include angels.

If pride was Satan's chief sin, what was his platform? How did he entice one third of God's angels to mutiny? Were they disgruntled by God's preferential love for mankind? 'Do you not know that we shall judge angels?' (1 Corinthians 6:3).**

Actors, models and talent for Christ: your audience is bigger than you know. A heavenly audience is watching you, too. Your private moments are not private, and your public moments exceed the human species.

So show them something good: something true, noble, right, pure, loving and admirable, something excellent, something praiseworthy. Show them Christ: His mission and His promise--that they may think about these things.***

'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life' (John 3:16). By your actions, show them why.

To Be Continued...

* Regarding Ephesians 3:10:

'Clarke's Commentary on the Bible: 'Who are these principalities and powers? Some think evil angels are intended, because they are thus denominated, Ephesians 6:12. Others think good angels are meant; for as these heavenly beings are curious to investigate the wondrous economy of the Gospel, though they are not its immediate objects, see 1 Peter 1:12. It is quite consistent with the goodness of God to give them that satisfaction which they require. And in this discovery of the Gospel plan of salvation, which reconciles things in heaven and things on earth - both men and angels, these pure spirits are greatly interested, and their praises to the Divine Being rendered much more abundant.'

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
