All Things (Part 5)
Are Known By God
'Can a man hide himself in hiding places so I do not see him?' declares the Lord. 'Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?'
Jeremiah 23:24 (NASB)
For the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts.
1 Chronicles 28:9 (NASB)
His Eyes are upon the ways of a man, and He sees all his steps.
Job 34:21 (NASB)
If we had forgotten the Name of our God or extended our hands to a strange god, would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Psalm 44:20-21 (NASB)
There is no creature hidden from His Sight, but all things are naked and open to the Eyes of Him to Whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV)
In 1949, George Orwell published one of the 20th century's most heralded novels: 1984. In it, a futuristic government keeps every citizen under constant surveillance. Warnings loom from giant screens: Big Brother is watching you.

In 2006 at the age of 51, I committed my life to Jesus. It was a dramatic time of loneliness, prayer, revelation and refinement. God knew my thoughts, and I was glad Satan did not. I was trying to 'Put on Christ' (Galatians 3:27), but it was a challenging retrofit.

In 2015, satellites and cell phones track our every move. Rulers play spy games in the interest of national security. We're surrounded by giant screens, strangely close to Orwell's description. Citizens rock between flaunting pretensions and secret obsessions. Is Big Brother here?

What if from the beginning of time, a Big Father was watching you: knowing every plan and seeing every move, so there's nothing to hide. But here's the remarkable difference: He's rooting for your success.

Sending you His Own Son, giving you His Spirit; making you a new life; cleaning up your old mess; blessing you with fullness; cheering when you choose well; forgiving when you don't; gentle in correction; hurting when you fall down; grieving in your sadness; laughing with your gladness;

Ready when you call Him; eager to defend you; coaching you in private; happy when you learn things; noting every good deed; forgetting all the bad; marking every kind word; meeting you in prayer time; smiling when you listen; helping you as needed; patient with your progress;

Showing you His wonders; urging you to dream big; prompting you to go far; walking right beside you; posting angels to you; seeing you as perfect; knowing that you will be; loving your performance; shooting lots of pictures, planning your promotion and building you a grand home.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: don't forget: You're always on stage.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
