Bad Ideas (Part 40, Conclusion)
Run For Your Lives!
Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
Matthew 26:56 (NKJV)
Then they all forsook Him and fled.
Mark 14:50 (NKJV)
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.
1 Corinthians 9:24 (NASB)
Actors, models and talent for Christ, you're called to become track and field stars: tracking down God's lost and cherished sheep though the mission fields of media. It's a strange new way of running fast--racing on airwaves of sight and sound.

To remember how these fields were built is to see His Promises fulfilled from the Parable of the Talents: The Lord now reaps where He did not sow.* Because Satan's team constructed them, and you enter into their labor.**

Running for your lives is a true call. Yet not just your lives, but many more. The big question is which direction: Toward worldly bling or heaven's King? Toward manmade charms or God's Own Arms?

The disciples weren't aiming for wealth when they ran from their Teacher's arrest. In mindless fear, they ran for safety. But they learned better, and so have we. For Christians, death is turned upside down. To die in Him is life forever.

So let us embrace this marathon for every moment we have on earth.

'Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the Right Hand of the throne of God' (Hebrews 12:1-2).

This is the best idea ever!

* The Parable of the Talents:

** 'I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors' (John 4:38).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
