Beautiful! Like Esther... Beauty Ingredients: Humility
Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman.
Esther 8:3 (NKJV)
Before honor comes humility.
Proverbs 15:33 (NASB)
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:12 (NKJV)
The devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to Him, 'I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.'
Luke 4:5-7 (NIV)
The relationship between humility and exaltation is one theme of the Bible. Consider this description of Moses: 'Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth' (Numbers 12:3). Consider this description of Jesus: 'They scoffed, 'He's just a Carpenter' ' (Mark 6:3).*

Although I fall short, humility remains my goal. It's a quality I seek in leaders. When I'm home, I attend Peachtree City Christian Church--led by Pastor George Dillard. I love my church and pastor, but neither is perfect. What keeps me there is the visible humility of its leadership.**

Because humility is a foundational virtue for true Christians. We must empty ourselves to become filled with God--and His light: to shine from the inside out. Our King chose to model humility. But before His death, Jesus revealed His true appearance to Peter, James and John: 'He was transfigured before them. His Face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light' (Matthew 17:2).

Like Moses, Esther and Jesus, actors models and talent for Christ are not dependent on spotlights. Because they glow no matter where they are. 'They will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them' (Revelation 22:5).

These Words describe Heaven, but Heaven came to earth in the Form of Jesus. When He left, God sent His Holy Spirit to live inside His followers. Therein, we should shine in the dark skies of our world... to guide those who follow us to the One true Star: Jesus.

Warning: Satan will try and confuse you. He will tempt you with artificial light and unearned authority. If you will worship him, 'It will all be yours' (Matthew 23:12). Admittedly, very few powerful people think they worship the devil. But if you worship (devote your time, attention and love to...) idols (which include money and fame), you worship him--not Him.

Therein, humility is an essential beauty ingredient in God's recipe for stars like Esther.

NOTE: Parts 5-31 of this series are republished edits of a 2014 series called, Beautiful Like Esther. In them you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
