Beautiful! Like Esther... Beauty Ingredients: Leadership
Mordecai went his way and did according to all that Esther commanded him.
I am among you as the One Who serves.
And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, 'If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.'
Esther was a leader who inspired her followers. After a death warrant was signed, her servants learned she was a Jew, but did not disclose it. Although she married a pagan king, her people still loved her and prayed for her favor.
Mordecai, her guardian, obeyed her command. Haman, her enemy, cherished her invitation. Ahasuerus, her husband, heeded her counsel. Esther led as one who served. Throughout her story, we see no hints of self-seeking or self-glory.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Jesus and the world define leadership differently:
He says, 'I came to serve.' The world says, 'I deserve to be served.'
He says, 'Humble yourself.' The world says, 'Exalt yourself.' *
He says, 'Deny yourself. I will fill you.' The world says, 'Satisfy yourself. Buy from me.'
He says, 'Come, follow Me.' The world says, 'No, follow me.'
He says, 'I love you. I lay down My Life for you.' The world says, 'No one loves you. Each man for himself.' *
He says, 'I give you freedom.' The world says, 'Money is your freedom.' *
Actors, models and talent for Christ: In the dark skies of media, celebrities lead millions of star gazers. But in what direction? As His intended leaders in the mission field of media, are you content with supporting roles to the 'The Bright and Morning Star' (Revelation 22:16)...
'That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world' (Philippians 2:15)?
Because as humans, we can only reflect the stars in Heaven that we follow. We have no light of our own.
Fooled into believing their own hype, others have become understudies to the fallen star, 'The angel of the abyss' (Revelation 9:11), 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2). By following false light, they become false leaders.
Because the only true leaders are those who lead others to the Truth, Who is Jesus.

*I have paraphrased the quotes in these paragraphs.
NOTE: Parts 5-31 of this series are republished edits of a 2014 series called, Beautiful Like Esther. In them you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
