Beautiful! Like Esther... Beauty Ingredients: Pondering
The queen was deeply distressed. Then she sent garments to clothe Mordecai and take his sackcloth away from him, but he would not accept them. Then Esther called Hathach... and she gave him a command concerning Mordecai, to learn what and why this was.
Esther 4:4-5 (NKJV)
Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Psalm 111:2 (NIV)
Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.
Proverbs 4:26 (NKJV)
But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.
Luke 2:19 (NASB)
To ponder is 'to consider something deeply and thoroughly' (Random House Dictionary). To consider something deeply and thoroughly, you must 'Inquire, search out, and ask diligently' (Deuteronomy 13:14). When Esther discovered her cousin's misery, she became miserable, too. She wanted to help, so she sought answers.

First, she discovered Haman's pernicious plot. Then, she learned Mordecai's proposed plan. Finally, she took it all to God. So by pursuit, pondering and prayer, peace came--along with the right decision. Esther was favored, Haman was foiled--and the Jews were saved.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Go deep. 'Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch' (Luke 5:4). Because the enemy is all about surface stuff, like desirable idols. By them, our eyes become transfixed, and we can't see beyond them to the danger ahead. Satan pollutes us from the outside in... until our hearts become desperately sick.

Jesus is all about our intentions: 'Motives are weighed by the Lord' (Proverbs 16:2).* By Him, our lives become transformed, and we learn 'To discern good and evil' (Hebrews 5:14). Jesus cleans us from the inside out... until our hearts become brand new.

When Haman tempted King Ahasuerus to sign a death warrant for the Jews, he did not go deep. He forgot to ponder. The king was saved from his mistake by Esther's pondering.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: you are royalty, too. Jesus made you to be 'Kings and priests to our God' (Revelation 5:10). So don't make snap judgments--not about something you love, nor about someone you hate. Don't believe anything without pondering. 'The glory of kings is to search out a matter' (Proverbs 25:2).

NOTE: Parts 5-31 of this series are republished edits of a 2014 series called, Beautiful Like Esther. In them you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
