Beautiful Like Esther... Beauty Ingredients: Truth
On that day King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her. So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai...
Esther 8:1-2 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life.'
John 14:6 (NKJV)
To the world, truth is hard to define.

Experts try to wrap their words around it. Consider these: truth is a 'faithful reproduction' (Collins English Dictionary); an 'agreement with a standard or original' (Random House Dictionary).

The Standard and Original are God and His Word: 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God' (John 1:1). It is His Son: 'The Image of the invisible God' (Colossians 1:15).

At the perfect time, the Original came to live with us: 'The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us... the only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth' (John 1:14).

Therefore, God is truth. He is 'The God of truth' (Isaiah 65:16). He is 'The Word of truth' (Psalm 119:43). He is 'The Spirit of truth' (John 14:17). He is 'The Way of truth' (Psalm 119:30). Our destiny is to become 'Men of truth' (Exodus 18:21)... and women of virtue.*

Esther was such a woman. She revealed a hard truth when she told her husband, the king, she was a Jew--because he had signed a death warrant for the Jews. Nevertheless, Esther valued the truth above her life. By telling the truth, she saved her life--and the lives of her people.**

Actors, models and talent for Christ: 'See, darkness covers the earth' (Isaiah 60:2). Our cities are 'Filled with confusion' (Acts 19:29). 'Lawlessness is increased' (Matthew 24:12), and people 'Cannot discern between their right hand and their left' (Jonah 4:11). They are like 'Children, tossed to and fro... by the trickery of men' (Ephesians 4:14). Moral relativity is their wavering guide.***

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You carry the truth. You have a Great Commission. For such a time as this, your job is to circle the globe. For you, the great dragon, 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2), is leashed and saddled.

So be courageous. Ride high and straight. Because God says at 'The end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase' (Daniel 12:4).

Work hard to look like Jesus. It is your duty and your destiny: 'For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the Image of His Son' (Romans 8:29); to be 'Transformed into the same Image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord' (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Therein, many will be 'Saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth' (1 Timothy 2:4).

* The virtuous woman or wife:

** 'He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life' (John 12:25).

*** Moral relativity: prior 4-part devotion series:

NOTE: Parts 5-31 of this series are republished edits of a 2014 series called, Beautiful Like Esther. In them you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
