Beauty Requests Nothing
She requested nothing...
Esther 2:15 (NIV)
Esther is a heroine in the Bible. She is described as 'fair and beautiful', but she is also discreet and brave. She is an orphan raised by her uncle, who is selected to live in the palace with other maidens who hope to be queen.

At the end of their training and purification, the maidens could request 'whatsoever' they desired before being presented to the king. Esther requested nothing. She received everything.

What have you requested lately? Women who are physically beautiful often grow accustomed to gifts and favor. They are tempted to forget God.

Worldly favor is an illusion that fades with time. True beauty is revealed in character and actions. Esther has true beauty.

For those of you gifted with beauty, remember the Source. Thank God. Use your appearance to attract others not to yourself, but to Him. He gave you this gift for a reason. For Esther, she was marked to save the Jews.

Who are you marked to save? As a Christian fashion model or actress, you can be a role model to thousands of girls and women, even boys and men. Use your beauty to magnify the Lord.

For yourself, request nothing. Your wisdom, humility, kindness, courage, and discretion will gain you everything.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
