Becoming (Part 4)
Becoming Bad
They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable.
Romans 3:12 (NKJV)
I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:27 (NKJV)
Are some people born bad? Where do generational curses stop and God's blessings begin? What about predestination? Is it possible to lose salvation?* These questions are debatable, but one thing is certain: large and small, our choices matter.

'Then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, 'Whoever is on the Lord's side--come to me!' ' (Exodus 32:26).

'I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live' (Deuteronomy 30:19).

'Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest' (Matthew 11:28).

'But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life' (John 5:40).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: If our lives are developing dramas, consider four constant truths: 1) Every choice leads us toward God or away. 2) No matter how often you mess up, continue to fess up and try again. 3) Becoming bad (or good) is a process. You haven't graduated. You're still in school. 4) A personal Coach is eager to help you.

So remember: Do not 'Become estranged from Christ' (Galatians 5:4); 'You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men' (1 Corinthians 7:23), 'And do not become idolaters' (1 Corinthians 10:7).

Do not 'Become dull of hearing' (Hebrews 5:11), and 'Do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises' (Hebrews 6:12). 'For consider Him Who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls' (Hebrews 12:3).

Do not 'Become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another' Galatians 5:26), 'Lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled' (Hebrews 12:15). 'Have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?' (James 2:4).

'Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged' (Colossians 3:21), and consequently 'Become orphans and waifs' (Lamentations 5:3). Friends, 'Do not be among those who give pledges, among those who become guarantors for debts' (Proverbs 22:26).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: God shows you many things you should become, but bad is not among them.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
