Becoming (Part 7)
Becoming Children Of Light
Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.
John 12:35-36 (NASB)
And if you give yourself to the hungry

And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,

Then your light will rise in darkness

And your gloom will become like midday.

And the Lord will continually guide you,

And satisfy your desire in scorched places,

And give strength to your bones;

And you will be like a watered garden,

And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.

Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;

You will raise up the age-old foundations;

And you will be called the repairer of the breach,

The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

Isaiah 58:10-12 (NASB)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: You are called to 'Give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted;' to 'Raise up the age-old foundations' of faith; to repair 'The breach' in a culture or corruption; to 'Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father Who is in heaven' (Matthew 5:16).

Could such a way be a different kind of light? One not dependent on bulbs, batteries, wires, wicks, energy or engineers. 'For the Commandment is a lamp and the Teaching is light' (Proverbs 6:23).

Could such a way be a deeper kind of Light? One where 'Your whole body will be full of light' (Matthew 6:22).

Could such a way be a defiant Light? One that 'Shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it' (John 1:5).

Could such a way be a determined Light? One that will never burn out, 'For the Lord will be your everlasting Light' (Isaiah 60:20).

Could such a way be a defensive Light? One that protects Its people like an 'Armor of light' (Romans 13:12); 'They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed' (Psalm 34:5).

Could such a way be a divine Light? One given by 'The Father of lights' (James 1:17) and the 'Sun of righteousness' (Malachi 4:2) to 'Shine in our hearts' (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Could such a way be a death-destroying Light? One 'To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace' (Luke 1:79).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Could such a way be the entertainment industry? Did God allow its construction to provide your platform? 'The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them' (Isaiah 9:2). Are you the opening act of a Second Coming? Are you preparing the way of the Lord... once again?

Therein, you must continue to rise as 'Children of Light' (Ephesians 5:8), 'Filled with the brightness of the glory of the Lord' (Ezekiel 10:4).

To Be Continued...

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
