Built Up
You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood.
1 Peter 2:5 (NAS)
God is the Ultimate Contractor. He's got building projects across the earth: us! He's building us up,too.

But if we allow ourselves to rest on the foundation of this world, we'll have to start over. Man-made structures will wash out from under us. 'Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand' (Matthew 7:26). We're heading for a fall.

As for me and my house, we had to start over. Breaking apart was not easy: loads of rubble were removed, and new structures were begun. But thank You, Lord! The new building is looking glorious! We sit surely on the Rock, and we grow: 'Therefore thus says the Lord God, 'Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in It will not be disturbed' ' (Isaiah 28:16).

God's children in the talent industry are being built up, too.

We will not be disturbed. We will neither fail nor fall. We are being 'Raised up with Him' (Ephesians 2:6) to a bright future. We 'Are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory' (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are lively stones honed to fit right into God's building--stones polished so brilliantly they reflect the light of God, 'In Whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord' (Ephesians 2:21).

To the world, we look more like stars than stones. And we are stars, standing in for Jesus, as we perform in the most important roles of our lives. Challenges and opponents, hope and friends, life and death--we face them all. Our lives are building to the most exciting climax the world has ever known.

So how does a new performer prepare for this role? Refine your craft. Get polished, and place yourself right on top of the Cornerstone.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
