Busyness Plans (Part 10)
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.
Proverbs 4:25 (NKJV)
But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:26 (NIV)
I believe God sets the people, places and things He appoints for us before our eyes. I believe we don't have to guess, turn or run around--because our Father is straightforward. Therefore, forward is the direction we should face, because in that direction He is found--along with our destiny.
'And the Lord, He is the One Who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed' (Deuteronomy 31:8).
When you follow God, He sets before you a series of opportunities: a path to follow with places to see, people to help and jobs to do. 'See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it' (Revelation 3:8).
But an open door is also a test: a test that demands an entrance by faith. As God's children move forward into their duties and destinies, amazing rewards follow. But some of us refuse to enter, and our awards are delayed--or missed altogether.
Consider the miracle-laden departure of the Israelites from Egypt. It concluded with the parting of the Red Sea. Even so, eleven days later God's chosen people made an extremely poor choice: they refused to enter the Promised Land.
'See, I have set the land before you... Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God' (Deuteronomy 1:8,26). As a result, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years--allowing time for every adult male who refused God's direction to die, and a new generation to mature.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: you are a new generation of faithful followers. You follow the refusal of the church to enter the wonderland of media. They complained about it, condemned it and congregated in high houses.
Meanwhile, media grew into a mighty monster. But it also grew into a mighty mission field, even a promised land. As God's stars enter and rise to prominence, millions of bewildered people will see Christ in you--and believe. So keep your focus forward, and don't look back.
Only be strong and of good courage. Your destiny awaits.
