Busyness Plans (Part 11)
Go Straight
Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.
Proverbs 4:26-27 (NKJV)
Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV)
Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isaiah 40:3 (NKJV)
Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
Hebrews 12:12-13 (NKJV)
'Arise and go to the street called Straight' (Acts 9:11). Once found, 'Do not turn to the right or the left.' Because if you do, you may get lost and find yourself in a sticky situation. Like a spider's web--with you as the unfortunate fly. 'A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead' (Proverbs 21:16).

As 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2) constructed a worldwide web to carry his messages to the masses, God gives His saints the wisdom to rise above it: 'That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting' (Ephesians 4:14).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: consider one of your roles to be as road workers in the field of media. Underneath your feet is a slimy mess, because 'The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet' (Romans 16:20). Your work clothes? The Armor of God.* Your job? Highway construction. 'Prepare the way for the people; Build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones; Lift up a banner for the peoples!' (Isaiah 62:10).

Because 'Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth' (Luke 3:5). 'And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others' (Isaiah 35:8). Its direction? Straight.

If you see tempting diversions, don't turn towards them. If you run into a road block, stop and pray. If you catch the virus of homesickness, cure it by remembrance of your real home: Heaven. Resist the return to the familiar. Because God's performers are disciples. Disciples are messengers. Messengers are actors, and action is required.

You carry good news the world is dying to hear. So go straight. God goes before you. He will part the Red Sea to advance your position.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
