Called, Chosen & Faithful (Part 2)
For many are called, but few are chosen.
Matthew 22:14 (NAS)
Jesus calls. 'Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you' (Mark 10:49). He tells us to 'Go out into all the world' (Mark 16:15) and call others in His Name. Just like the king who 'Sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding' (Matthew 22:3).

But we're not sure of the guest list.

So, we 'Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as {we} find there, {we} invite to the wedding feast' (Matthew 22:9).

As His servants, we go forth--especially to the entertainment industry. Its elevated stars carry messages with super-hero status on the 'main highway' of media: the post office of the 21st century. Worldwide delivery is instant.

Many are called, more than many. But Jesus tells us 'Few are chosen.'

Why? God looks at our hearts (see Luke 16:15), and lip service to His call won't make the cut. God's army is the ultimate special forces unit. Training is rigorous. The battle is hard. Though He wants us all, most of 'the called' wash out.

How can we be sure we are chosen? We keep our hearts and eyes on the King, and He will lead us through every minefield, obstacle and temptation to give up, go AWOL, or worst of all, join the enemy. He will unite our hearts unto His, our destination unto Him. He fights with us and for us.

How can we help those who might not be chosen? We keep praying, speaking, walking, dancing and singing His Good News. We keep acting on His behalf. We never give up hope. Nothing is impossible for God.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
