Carved Images (Part 5, Conclusion)
True Worshippers
Believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father... But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:21-24 (NKJV)
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His Wings.
Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)
Jesus, the Man, chose a plain appearance and a simple life. Contrary to popular opinion, Jesus did not look like Brad Pitt with a beard. He looked like a common Jew of His time. His Image was not remarkable.

Although He became the most famous Man in Judea, He had no distinguishing physical features. Recall that Judas had to show up in person to identity Jesus, so the guards could arrest Him; one Man in a lineup of eleven: 'Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him' (Matthew 26:48).

When discussing Jesus' ordinary Image with my son-in-law, Adam, he said, 'What about that painting by the little girl from an atheist family? Many people think it's a real vision. He looks good!' *

Consider one more description of Jesus: His Transfiguration:

'While He was praying, the appearance of His Face became different' (Luke 9:29). Matthew and Mark called It 'radiant.' To me, 'different' + 'radiant' = handsome. I believe Jesus' true Image is awesome. But during His first appearance on earth, He played a different role--on purpose.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: copy Jesus. Be different from today's standard in Hollywood. Be different from today's standard in the American church. Be real. Worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, because that standard is rare.

The lost will see it. So whatever face God gave you, cherish it. Avoid the plastic images most stars put on. Instead, 'Put on Christ' (Galatians 3:27). You are the truth commissioned by Jesus for such a time as this in such a field as media.

Blow the roof off today's church with a Truth so powerful It cannot be contained by anything man builds. As brethren of the 'Sun of Righteousness,' rise above manmade images. Fly in His Light.

'Arise, shine; for your light has come,

And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

For behold, darkness will cover the earth

And deep darkness the peoples;

But the Lord will rise upon you

And His glory will appear upon you.

Nations will come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising' (Isaiah 60:1-3)

* Google Akiana's 8-year-old painting of Jesus and/or watch this CNN interview: She is now an adult. I am aware of large sums of money made by her paintings, but that does not mean her visions as a small child were wrong.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
