Chain Of Command: A Soldier's Life
Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus
2 Timothy 2:1-3 (NIV)
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 17:14 (NKJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:10-11 (NKJV)*
In Christ, a soldier's life is to serve, obey, love and defend.* You are the most elite fighting force in the world: the army of God. Your military service carries responsibilities and privileges. But first, understand the chain of command.

The Lord God Almighty is The Top. He calls the shots, because He created the shots. Next to Him is Jesus, 'The King of kings' (1 Timothy 6:15, NKJV), a 'Leader and Commander for the peoples' (Isaiah 55:4, NASB). He makes the shots.

His army on Earth is called 'His body' (Ephesians 1:23, NKJV)... or His church. You are soldiers, members, believers, disciples, priests and saints. You follow the Captain's orders.

Although you are physical beings, you fight 'Spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places' (Ephesians 6:12, NASB). How is that possible? In human form, it's not. In Spiritual form, it is.

God's Holy Spirit empowers your victory. Because Jesus won the war. But He's delayed the establishment of His government here.

1) Jesus will clean the earth of evil spirits and faithless felons (the bad guys).

2) And we know God 'Desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth' (1 Timothy 2:4, NKJV).

Which brings us back to you, His army, and back to your job as Truth carriers and peace-seekers. You love and serve. You educate and enlighten.

But the enemy, who is Satan, we fight. How?

## Chain Of Command: A Soldier's Life (Part 5)

* The Whole Armor of God: 'Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.'

'Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints' (Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV).

* A study on being a soldier of Christ:

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
