Character Development (Part 4)
The Action Plan
Be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man.
1 Kings 2:2 (NKJV)
We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV)
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
James 1:2-3 (NKJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NAS)
My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
John 15:8 (NAS)
These Scriptures provide the action plan for your character development as servants of the Most High God. Preceding them is Step One, the Great Commission of Jesus Christ: 'And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation' ' (Mark 16:15). As actors, models and talent for Christ, you go into all the world on the airwaves of media. Travel has never been easier.
You don't just talk about your faith, you prove it (see James 2:18). 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go' (Joshua 1:9).
Whatever trials you face (doubt, delays, rejection, ridicule), you thank God! Because you've been counted worthy to be in God's training camp. Therefore, wave the banner of faith, hold tight to your hope and be patient. Graduation with honors awaits you.
As you suffer with a smile, people marvel. They see your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These qualities are appreciated in all cultures--even Hollywood. They are calling cards for Christ. Pass them out liberally.
By this action plan, you bring fruit and glory to God. Whether you're a principal or an extra, in a casting office or on a set, you illuminate Christ to every person who sees His Character in you.
