Command Performances For Hollywood +1
A new Commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
Matthew 13:34 (NASB)
#11: Love One Another

Christ added an eleventh Commandment to the Ten before it: Love your neighbor!

Who are your neighbors in entertainment? Fellow actors, models and performers. Managers, directors and producers. Designers, stylists and technical teams. Agents, secretaries and assistants.

All rising, falling and wandering stars. Most especially... every eager fan. Toward your neighbors, on set and off, you must...

Walk in love. This is the act to master. God's artists must display the highest style.

Because pseudo saints forgot the love walk. They talked the hate talk... about Hollywood. Their dismay may be understandable, but their reaction harmed the cause of Christ.

Actors, models and talent for Christ, you enter this magnificent mission field with smiling faces and shiny talents.

You rise up in love, not condemnation. Your goal is graciously surprising: to lend a hand before receiving one.

Jesus gained fame in His wondrous love walk. He welcomed outcasts and embraced sinners. He uplifted the poor and downtrodden.

Fame was nothing more than His calling card: an irresistible invitation to come and enter the kingdom of God, where joy and everlasting life are found.

His action plan is your action plan, too.

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
