Command Performances For Hollywood #6
You shall not murder.
Exodus 20:13 (NASB)
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
1 John 3:15 (NASB)
#6: No Hatred, No Anger

What God wrote as a Law against murder, Jesus expanded to expose the roots of murder, which are hatred and anger. 'But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment' (Matthew 5:22).

Who could believers hate in Hollywood? Who makes us angry? A no-good agent? A lying roommate? A betraying friend?

Casting Directors who play favorites? Bad writers who get trashy films produced? Worthless photographers who charge too much? Partying stars who set bad examples?

Entertainment's wrong-doer list is long. Only God can judge. We're not qualified.

Our job is to copy what Jesus did: to love each and every flagrant sinner. 'God demonstrates His Own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us' (Romans 5:8).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You've been cast to love the unlovable, including people who make you angry.

You're called to be the light in media. You're called to be the light in your hometown. You're to be the light on location, and wherever people sit in darkness.

If you feel angry, don't fret about it. You haven't sinned (yet). But before you speak or bring it to life, give anger to God. He can dispel it (before it turns to hatred in your heart).

Only with supersize doses of love (seen by your remarkable graciousness and your extraordinary forgiveness) can you rise and shine in entertainment.

## Command Performances For Hollywood #6

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
