Complaining (Part 12)
Is Unattractive
Arise, shine; for your light has come,

And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

Isaiah 60:1 (NASB)
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!
Romans 10:15 (NASB)
He said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.'
Matthew 4:19 (NASB)
Actors, models and talent for Christ:

As saints of the most High God, as ambassadors for Christ, as sparkling jewels in His crown, as citizens of Heaven, as temples of His Spirit, as messengers with Good News, as stewards of His talents, as reflectors of His Light, as stars forever and ever, your role is one of beauty.

As fishers for God's Kingdom, attraction is essential. So you work with bait or lures. Here's a cool definition:

'A fishing lure is a type of artificial fishing bait which is designed to attract a fish's attention. The lure uses movement, vibration, flash and color to bait fish.' (*)

As God would have it, you're using movement (dance), vibration (song), flash (looks) and color (acting) to attract people. Your sea is entertainment, and most people are in it. Your Line is God's Commission, and the hook is optional. It's more like a helping Hand.

But if you complain about this or that, if you act like a spoiled celebrity, if you grumble when things don't go your way, you've made yourself sadly unattractive. To quote an AMTC model's mom: 'Honey, if you're ugly on the inside, you're even uglier on the outside.'

Because inside of you is God. If He's not apparent in you, you need to step down from the stage, go back to your room in silence, open His Book and start reading, get on your knees and start praying, listen to Him and start heeding, count your blessings and start thanking...

Because in communion comes grace: the glorious presence of God.

Complaint is not part of your act.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
