But Peter continued knocking.
Acts 12:16 (NAS)
They say, 'It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings.' If God decides to appear as a fat lady, they're right.
Most of the bad results we face on this side of Heaven happen because we quit. We become job hoppers, frustrated performers, absentee dads, yo yo dieters, divorcers, dropouts, and complainers--never satisfied and rarely successful.
We leave our fields, friends, family, churches, health, jobs, teams, and dreams.
But as Christ followers, we learn to live differently; until He says, 'It is finished' (John 19:30), we continue.
We 'continue in faith, love and holiness' (1 Timothy 2:15); we 'continue to do good' (1 Peter 4:19); we 'continue in prayer' (Colossians 4:2); we 'continue to walk in the truth' (3 John 1:3); we 'continue to rejoice' (Philippians 1:18) in the hope of our calling.
If we are called to be artists and performers for God, we continue to work in the mission field of entertainment. We continue in this foreign land until we are fruitful, because this is the talent He gave us. When we multiply it, we magnify Him.
As Jesus prayed to His Father concerning His disciples, 'I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known in order that the love You have for Me may be in them and that I Myself may be in them' (John 17:26).
We are His disciples. Clearly, He is not quitting on us, nor will we quit on Him.
