Deal Breakers (Part 4: Wrong Priorities)
Martha was distracted.
Luke 10:40 (NKJV)
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1 Timothy 6:9 (NKJV)
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
If New York is the city that doesn't sleep, entertainment is the industry that scatters God's sheep--by the millions. Their eyes have been turned away from the Shepherd.
'For the idols speak delusion; The diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; They are in trouble because there is no shepherd' (Zechariah 10:2).
The enemy is using distractions and diversions to wage war on the world's population. His weapon? Media. His bullets? Sights and sounds. His transit system? The web. His communicators? Dark stars. They are hypnotically effective.
But God is God. He will gather His sheep, and He will reap where He did not sow. On the sound stages of entertainment, He is launching His Own stars into key positions. Enter actors, models, and talent for Christ: the light brigade.
Here's the thing: when God places you into key positions, don't get distracted by the excitement of the mission field. Because wrong priorities are deal breakers, and you can easily get wounded or sent back home.
Wrong priorities include shopping, restaurants, romance, money, celebrities, awards, worldly success, people-pleasing, bad ideas, dirty jobs, and party people. Endless temptations are paraded in entertainment meccas.
Wrong priorities take your eyes off Jesus. But don't lose sight of Him. Even for a minute. If you give Satan 60 seconds, he'll take an hour, then a day, even a life.
Yet do not fear. God is leading this movement. 'In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths' (Proverbs 3:6). 'The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations' (2 Peter 2:9), and He will. He understands the desires of your heart.
'Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you' (Matthew 6:33). Jesus is the only Priority.
