For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
God is promoting His stars into the headlines of film, fashion, music, theater, and sports. Their praise of the King is remarkable, and it stirs fires of confidence in fellow believers. Their testimony in pass-the-glory interviews kindles sparks of curiosity in others.
God's gripping action plan in entertainment has begun.
Therefore, the enemy wants to stop the light brigade now--before more stars rise and more blazes glow. The easiest way to stop a flame is to never let it start. Therefore, he whispers deal-breaking suggestions and hurls deal-breaking circumstances at the beginning of a godly entertainer's rise.
Because that's when a new performer is most vulnerable. And insecure. Consider coming into a major agency and competing with successful international performers. Maybe you're feeling a little shy, awkward, or 'less-than' them. That's how Satan wants you to feel.
He nurtures comparisons leading to insecurity, so you interview a little less boldly or show a little less style. Maybe you don't leap as high or smile as big. Shyness is a show-stopper. It just doesn't work. So what do you do?
Put on confidence. Speak it into existence and believe it in faith. 'For the Lord will be your confidence' (Proverbs 3:26). 'Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward' (Hebrews 10:35).
'It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes' (Psalm 118:9)--including entertainment royalty. Forget about them. Jesus is the King of kings, and He's on your side. So memorize His lines to rehearse at vital moments. Such as:
'Greater is He Who is in you than he who is in the world' (1 John 4:4).
'I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me' (Philippians 4:13).
'For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them' (Ephesians 2:10).
And in First Person to you from the Top: 'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand' (Isaiah 41:10).
