Deliverance (Part 24)
By Faith
The Lord, Who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.
1 Samuel 17:37 (NKJV)
In the shared work of deliverance, a work combining both man and God, one requirement sets up our success: Faith! A mysterious prerequisite. Because without faith, we can't be free. We're chained by fears, needs, deeds, greeds and stuff. Trusting the Deliverer comes first. By faith, chains are broken one by one.

'Your life shall be as a prize to you, because you have put your trust in Me' (Jeremiah 39:18).

In the Old Testament, faith focused on Jehovah. His children trusted in what He had done and would do. 'Our fathers trusted in You... and You delivered them' (Psalm 22:4). Like David, the teen who ran to battle a giant.

In the New Testament, faith found a new Champion. For God so loved the world that He sent Jesus to us. Of Him God said, 'This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!' (Mark 9:7). When we listen and believe, deliverance begins.

I hope better for you, but I am challenged by doubts. They're like biting flies in the anointment of my life. Ineffectually, I swat in all directions. But if doubts are like demons, I'm not doing it right. I need the spiritual fly zapper: God's Own Word.

In the old days, fly swatters were handy and ready for action. In our hard days, we must keep faith-building Verses even closer. By His Hand, the spoken Word of God rids our homes of pesky doubts.

Following are links to some handy-dandy Faith-Builders.* My strategy is to write Verses on index cards. When needed, I pull Them out and speak Them to the flies. Pretty soon, the air around me and my house is clean.

Then I breathe deeply. Deliverance is beautiful.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
