Deliverance (Part 41)
The Magic Business
You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels;

Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,

And the monthly prognosticators

Stand up and save you

From what shall come upon you.

Behold, they shall be as stubble,

The fire shall burn them;

They shall not deliver themselves

From the power of the flame.
Isaiah 47:13-15 (NKJV)
The magic business holds a great deal of power, and Satan is its principle distributor. Various occultists are his minor players: psychics, witches, sorcerers and astrologers. They sow calamity, but on a smaller scale.

Various world leaders are his major players: drug lords, crime kings, CEOs and politicians. They plot deceitfully on scales we can't measure. Such a position was offered to our Savior. And at that point, He seemed to be a weakened Man:

'Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, 'All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours' ' (Luke 4:5-7).

Sadly, Satan's bag of magic tricks pretends deliverance: from lack, guilt, anger, weakness, loneliness and inconsequence. By means of money, cunning, revenge, muscle, cronies and fame.

But the king of cons is already defeated. The King of kings was awarded the victory. Communication and clean up are in progress. Quite soon, Satan and his team must exit earth's field.

'For evildoers shall be cut off... For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more' (Psalm 37:9-10).

Because hot air and big smoke are destined to be blown away.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
