Do-Gooders: Champion Two Priorities
Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great Commandment. And the Second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 22:37-40 (NKJV)
Along with His torn and battered Body, Jesus hung these Commandments on the Cross: to show His utter Commitment to Them and to illustrate Their priority, superseding every other concern--even the concern of His pending death.
Because if you champion God's top Rules, all church, work and personal interests will defer to the Lord's authority. They'll either fall away like dead brambles, or they'll shoot up from God's beautiful Branch as sustenance for earth's hungry people.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Within modern Christianity are unnumbered denominations. With rulish religiosity, some shoot out like sharp vines on barbed wire. Fearing the pokes from prickly precepts, shy sheep are scared to leave the churchyard. Therein, congregations can be fenced.
But Jesus sent you out and about: to spread His Good News in every place. Knowing man's urge to complicate things, He simplified God's Leading Orders: to love Him first and our neighbors next.
Such a direct and straightforward path is revolutionarily clear. Plus, it's inclusive and uniting--even politically correct; even acceptable to the world, by focusing on God's main theme: Love!
## Do-Gooders: Champion Two Priorities (Part 80)
NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2016 series called, 'Do-Gooders.' In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Do-Gooders series.
