Do-Gooders: Come Out Of Hiding
After these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the Body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His Body. Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight.
John 19:38-39 (NASB)
Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven. But whoever disowns Me before others, I will disown before My Father in heaven.
Matthew 10:32-33 (NIV)
After Christ was arrested and beaten;
After He was taunted and crucified;
When the hope of a Messiah faded;
When connecting with Him was dangerous;
When ardent admirers kept their distance;
When devoted disciples hid themselves;
When Jewish leaders seemed victorious;
When Pilate allied himself with Herod;
When no one believed He would rise again...

Two prominent men stepped up to the plate, revealing their faith in a Man thought dead and exposing themselves to likely harm. They were Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, a council member. They were the first to rise when others shrank. Their public example of loyalty set up the world's most surprising ending: the greatest come-back story of all time.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: For many decades in Hollywood, Christians were a scorned minority: both politically incorrect and practically unbookable.

So performers who believed in Him kept their hottest Love undercover. Many more stayed away from the field, burying God's talent in churchyards. But that was then, and today is new.

The Lord has softened media's heart toward His people and His stories. He's also issued a casting call, prompting performers to rise and shine.

Because Jesus is coming back soon, and He says it's sooner than we think. So what's your duty in all of this? Don't hide your faith. Instead, offer it through the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

'The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law' (Galatians 5:22-23). By these, the public will welcome you.

## Do-Gooders: Come Out Of Hiding (Part 90)

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2016 series called, 'Do-Gooders.' In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Do-Gooders series.
