Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured The Cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the Right Hand of the throne of God.
For consider Him Who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
If you feel disconnected from the Lord;
If you're not sure your prayers have been heard;
If Sunday's glow doesn't last long enough;
If Christian friends seem too superficial;
If your life's been a series of roadblocks;
If you're facing major health challenges;
If you're enduring a body in pain;
If your family is under attack;
If you've been betrayed by someone you love;
If you've suffered a devastating loss;
If worry seizes large parts of your day;
If depression is something you're hiding...
If you're discontented with government;
If your current job does not fulfill you;
If naysayers discourage your calling;
If the funding you need hasn't arrived;
If success isn't coming fast enough;
If you've been ridiculed or overlooked;
If negativity is your answer;
If complaint claims ownership of your mouth;
If apathy puts a stake in your heart;
If you start to yield to strong temptations;
If God seems like He's nowhere to be found and bad ideas begin looking good...
What if you put churchy-ness on notice? What if you put demons on notice, too?
What if you told doubt, pain, scorn, fear, shame, grief, gloom, gripes, loss, lust, rage, haste, dread, angst and ire... to skip town while you consider the Cross?
What if you laid face-down on a hard floor and thought of Jesus on a harder Cross?
What if you placed all troubling concerns at the base of The Cross in His Shadow?
What if just one unseen Drop of His Blood touched your stinking pile of harmful feelings?
Through many tough tests, Paul put it this way: 'I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified' (1 Corinthians 2:2, NKJV).
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Do-Gooders must consider The Cross. In this essential consideration, every lesser thing will fall away. All twisted thoughts will be realigned. Because nothing has or ever will compare to the power of The Cross.
Jesus hung there so you don't have to. If you spend enough time at His Feet you will arise in lasting freedom.
## Do-Gooders: Consider The Cross (Part 98)
NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2016 series called, 'Do-Gooders.' In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Do-Gooders series.
