Do-Gooders: Dance For Joy
We played the flute for you and you did not dance.
Matthew 11:17 (NASB)
David danced before the Lord with all his might.
2 Samuel 6:14 (NKJV)
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing.
Psalm 150:4 (NASB)
There's a 'Time to mourn and a time to dance' (Ecclesiastes 3:4). But if our hearts are shaken or stony, we're marching to a different drummer.

He's the devil and he keeps us off-beat. We're standing still when we should be moving, or we're moving in the wrong direction.

Sympathy is nipped by self-consciousness.
Empathy is zipped by self-absorption.
Celebration is ripped by self-loathing.

The symphonies God is playing for us, and the joy our friends want to share with us... are lost to closed ears, hard heads and hurt hearts.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: The church is moving stiffly today. Fear and dread bind the feet of some saints. When they should be dancing on their graves for the new life Jesus provided, they're shuffling along in dead-end ruts.

Why would outsiders desire to join such an uninspiring progression?

But the zeal of God's Great Commission and the dream that is now your vision... keep your toes tapping in harmony. As you head toward Hollywood's hills, if brethren scared of uncertainty attempt to hold you back from the climb, remind them of these stirring Lyrics:

'How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!' ' (Romans 10:14-15).*

## Do-Gooders: Dance For Joy (Part 51)

* 'How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
'Your God reigns!' ' (Isaiah 52:7).

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2016 series called, 'Do-Gooders.' In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Do-Gooders series.
