Do-Gooders: Feed Thousands
He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Matthew 14:19-21 (NKJV)*
Unprecedented miracles were seen when Christ, the Man, fed thousands of people by multiplying some morsels of food. This broadcast was so extraordinary His Own disciples couldn't quite grasp it. And yet, the Word of God clearly connects physical and spiritual feeding.
Even so, if any of you have lived outside of Christ, you've felt the emptiness: the one so hurtful, profound and nagging that men try all kinds of things to fill it. Food is a commonly attempted cure.
Although everyone learns food cannot fill the spiritual deficit they feel, the pleasant Band-Aid of overeating covers the void for a few sweet minutes. (Having weighed 360 pounds for many years of my young adult life, I speak from personal experience.)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: As modern day stand-ins for Jesus living in the age of media, you feed not just thousands, but millions, since...
'Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father' (John 14:12).
On the global networks produced by 'The Prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2), God's talents are greatly multiplied. You enter the labor of others, and the Lord reaps where He did not sow.
In other words, this strange mission field was custom designed for your entry. So don't bite the bait of impatience. No one said the job would be easy (except King Con, the misinformer). Your entry offers fans the Bread of life.

NOTE: This series is a republished edit of a 2016 series called, 'Do-Gooders.' In these devotions, you may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' I have not changed this designation. Because in a greater sense, every disciple of Christ acts for Christ, models Christ and stewards His talents, from which God expects a profit.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Do-Gooders series.
