Do-Gooders: Live Exemplary Lives
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)
Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they'll be won over to God's side and be there to join in the celebration when He arrives.
1 Peter 2:12 (The Message)
When Tim Tebow became a football star in college, his Bible-Versed cheeks got major air time. Social media went over the top to find the meaning of John 3:16.

By playing his game with fierce excellence, Tim witnessed Christ without saying a word. In a sport showing mean-muscled guy stuff, Tebow played with the best. He may have beat a lot of teams, but the one he beat hardest was Satan.

Because football is huge entertainment, because Tim continues to move forward, he's a role model performer for Christ: a do-gooder working through media. Tim does not hide or compromise his faith. Instead, he publicizes it deftly: never condemning, always affirming.

Within the fellowship of believers, Tim is a frequent center-stage speaker. Within the fellowship of U.S. sports, Tim is one of the guys: a team player. He's too smart to throw the causes of Christ at wide receivers who aren't (yet) open.

Now when Tim makes heartfelt moves off the field, like praying with a guy in a seizure, comforting passengers on an airplane, or visiting a gay friend who was shot, even the liberal press is impressed with his major league acts of doing good.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: The Tim Tebow Effect is working. With his inarguably good acts, he's a wise ambassador for Christ. Tim's talent and hard work won him fame. Now he's using it beautifully.*

If you copy his modern method: 1. Perfecting your talents with hard work, 2. Gaining the attention of the world, 3. Then performing like heroes off stage... you, too, will become stars for the Lord.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
