You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His Own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
You do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place...
In film today, darkness is glorified. Harmful behaviors are made to look good: as are the naughtiest celebrities. Because they gain vast ratings and riches, media's dirty dollars are laundered in a devious P.R. deception. Even so, God declared it long ago:
'Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!' (Isaiah 5:20).
Actors, models and talent for Christ: You're called to be God's standard bearers. 'When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him' (Isaiah 59:19). So consider His enlightened Words:
1) You're told to be 'The light of world' (Matthew 5:14); to 'Go into all the world and preach' (Mark 16:15), to 'Make disciples of all nations' (Matthew 28:19). Staying under the roof of your church isn't what Jesus commanded.
2) Because God's Own 'Sun of righteousness' (Malachi 4:2), 'Has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death' (Luke 1:78-79), 'To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light' (Acts 26:18).
3) Think of fans in darkened theaters: hungry eyes searching billions of screens. 'If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday' (Isaiah 58:10).
4) A trustworthy, dependable light is part of a do-gooder's backpack. Jesus is the Never-Failing Light, and you now live in desperate times. So don't allow fear, complacency or part-time worshippers of the Lord keep you from your appointed mission.
'Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness will cover the earth
And deep darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will rise upon you
And His glory will appear upon you.
Nations will come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising' (Isaiah 60:1-3).
