For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps...
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you...
If one of our King's chief goals on this earth was to be the Model and Example of how disciples are supposed to live, then a lot of pastors just don't get it. Neither do a lot of faith-based leaders. Nor do many Christian celebrities. Therefore, their followers have been misled.
Because they're not doing what Jesus did. Because their shows of glamorous lifestyles don't reflect their Model's simplicity. Because their acts of physical power don't reveal Christ's acts of godly power. Because small crosses hanging from their necks don't look like the large Cross where Jesus hung.
Now ponder the goal of public service, because U.S. politicians claim Christ: as in 91% of Congress.* (I write these words in an election year with candidates and fights like no other.) So if the vast bulk of them are Christians, how did so many ungodly laws pass that are contrary to His Character?**
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Beware modern church hypocrisy. Because Christ's only condemning Words were aimed toward religious phonies: people who would talk the talk of God, but would not walk the walk of His Son.***
You've been called to portray your Leader: to show others Who your Model is; to look cool, simple and relevant, remembering kids will copy you; to act real, helpful and merciful, remembering the power in love. Because people learn by Example far better than they learn just by words.

** I won't try list all laws (or certain laws) that are contrary to God's Word. I am not a politicized Christian (because Jesus wasn't), and I think hateful rhetoric harms the cause of Christ. Judgmental Christians embarrass me. Nor will I condemn outsiders who don't know Him. What I hope for is their commitment to Christ and subsequent receipt of His Holy Spirit--Who will teach them (and continue to teach me) what is right and what is wrong. My problem is the hypocrisy of Christians. It's far better not to claim Christ than to claim Him as Lord and not try to copy Him.
** 'I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My Mouth' (Revelation 3:15-16).
*** Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your Name, cast out demons in Your Name, and done many wonders in Your Name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' (Matthew 7:21-23).
