Do-Gooders (Part 78)
Know They Are Tenants
Hear another parable: There was a certain landowner who planted a vineyard and set a hedge around it, dug a winepress in it and built a tower. And he leased it to vinedressers and went into a far country. Now when vintage-time drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers, that they might receive its fruit. And the vinedressers took his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did likewise to them. Then last of all he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.' So they took him and cast him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers?

They said to Him, 'He will destroy those wicked men miserably, and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will render to him the fruits in their seasons.'
Matthew 21:33-41 (NKJV)
If life on earth is a series of tests because our Lord is a God of testing...
If He's committed to our instruction, through His Word, Spirit and good examples...
If He shows great patience with our mistakes and continues to hope for our repentance...
If our time on earth is temporary and we own nothing coming or going...
If we could be considered sharecroppers on God's property during our lifetimes...
If our Landlord deserves His due profits from His generous living arrangements...
But we forget our station as tenants because we think our Big Boss is long gone...
Then get uppity and full of ourselves, pretending His assets belong to us...
So we ignore Him as if He's not here and disregard His Word, Spirit and Son...
We may face a terrible penalty, since we could have and should have known better.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Cherish your position as tenants--considering your Landlord is God and your sweet deal was made possible through His unparalleled sacrifice. Give Him your humble obedience. Give Him the fruits of your stewardship. Give Him courteous appreciation.

If the vineyard is entertainment and tending His talents bears big fruit, then be sure you defer the glory to the vineyard's true Proprietor. While you can't (yet) see Him with your eyes, He's surely looking at you through His.
