Do-Gooders (Part 92)
Say Yes And Mean It
A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come, for all things are now ready.' But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.' And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.' Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.' And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.' Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.'
Luke 14:16-24 (NKJV)*
If faith is essential to please the Lord, if faith in Christ takes top priority, if faith's proof is responding to His call, then excuses and delays are faithless.

'No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God' (Luke 9:62).

'If anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him' (Hebrews 10:38).

In Christ's Parable of the Great Supper, guests reneged on a promised commitment - to do other things they came to prefer. Their priorities took a shift toward purchases, business deals and family.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Your lifestyle of unique faithfulness pleases not only the King of kings, but also the kings of Hollywood. Because men who say yes and mean it and women who refuse to waver... gain favor by being trustworthy. So consider three vital questions:

1) Is going when and where God calls you more important than everything else?

2) Do you keep the commitments you make, even when they're hard or you're busy?

3) Or, are you tired of waiting on God, so you embrace other interests?

Actors, models and talent for Christ: 'Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No' ' (Matthew 5:37). Act faithfully in a faithless world. Honor all of your vows to the Lord and fulfill your promises to men.
