Fear: Our Allies, Angel Armies
The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
Psalm 34:7 (NKJV)
Do you think I cannot call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
Matthew 26:3 (NIV)
Our allies in the fight against fear are angels: God's invisible heavenly messengers and paratroopers, who can even take human form to serve His purposes.

When the angels of light battle the demons of darkness, I imagine a fireworks display no Marvel movie could begin to capture. Truth is always more spectacular than fiction.

So are God's angels really looking out for us? They are if He sends them our way! 'For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways' (Psalm 91:11, ESV).*

What must we do to have angels on our side?

1) Stay close to God. Believe in His Word. Follow His Son. Obey His calling at all costs. 'Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared' (Exodus 23:20, ESV).

2) When we sin, repent. Repeatedly, when necessary. Even more, let us find and gently help others come back to God. 'There is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents' (Luke 15:10, ESV).

3) Be kind to everyone. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are God's calling cards. We are commissioned to hand them out. 'Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares' (Hebrews 13:2, ESV).

Conclusion: Thank God for friends in the highest places!

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
