Finding Your Way (Part 4: Do Not Pass 'Go')
He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth, and makes them wander in a pathless wilderness.
Job 12:24 (NKJV)
There are those who rebel against the light; They do not know its ways nor abide in its paths.
Job 24:13 (NKJV)
Consider the game of Monopoly. The path of the prideful and the prodigal is like running around a Monopoly board. They buy and sell. Strategy plays a part, but mostly it's a big risk--won or lost by rolling the dice. When you hit a spot called 'Chance,' one card says:

'Go directly to jail; Do not pass Go; Do not collect $200.' Players complain over that card, but Job saw purpose in his confinement. 'You put my feet in the stocks, and watch closely all my paths. You set a limit for the soles of my feet' (Job 13:27).

Because God is the only good chance, and surrender to Him is the only good choice.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ: Do not play Monopoly with your future. Do not 'Rebel against the light' (Job 24:13). 'Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil' (Proverbs 4:14).

Your path is to follow 'the Light' (John 12:35). When you're close to the Light, you reflect the Light. You model Christ to a dark world. You act like Christ in a dark field. If you follow the proud or the prodigals, you may become one.

And do not pass Go-d. Stay behind Him. Because He will lead you in the paths of righteousness for His Name's sake. If your heart is for God, He will guide you, guard you, and keep you upright on solid ground, that your 'Footsteps will not slip' (Psalm 17:5).

He will even enlarge your steps making your witness bigger. The Hollywood 'Walk of Fame' is destined to crumble. But your walk of fame behind Christ will stand the test of time.

'Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the Heaven... so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain' (Hebrews 12:26-27).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
