Flood Insurance Salesmen
Therefore everyone who hears these Words of Mine and acts on Them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.
Matthew 7:24-25 (NASB)
In today's Scripture, your 'house' is your life, kin, friends, work... and everything you hold dear.

Certainly, 'The Rock' is Jesus Himself: the 'Chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame' (1 Peter 2:6).

Wise men build their homes on His Foundation, because...

Destructive waves beat on the best of doors: waves of war, recession and depression. Waves filled with hooks, hatred and hopelessness. No human house is too high for a hit.

God knows these whacks can wash people away. So He sent His Son, Who laid down His Life as the Foundation for new building plans.

Earth's A.D. flood isn't like Noah's flood. It's Living Water from Jesus Himself- to cleanse and strengthen God's chosen people. Even so, it brings a life or death choice.

We can 'Choose life' (Deuteronomy 30:19). Surely, His Word IS life. We can choose to listen to Him daily, making Scripture our first priority. (Because without Him, we don't have a day.)

We can choose to act upon what He says. Consider it a command performance.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: In the mission fields of entertainment, you're His modern-day communicators: acting-singing-dancing models of Christ; non-judgmental ambassadors for Christ.

Jesus knows people need joy in their lives. His first miracle came at a party. But you aren't called simply to entertain.

You called to give hope and show where you live. Because hope is an 'Anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast' (Hebrews 6:19). You're key to God's flood insurance program. As field agents, you work under Jesus, Who fully pre-paid all who opt in.

## Flood Insurance Salesmen

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
