Getting Jobs Quickly
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him...
Psalm 37:7 (NAS)
Actors, models, and talent want to get jobs quickly.

Actors, models, and talent for Christ follow a different time clock. His.

As His performers, you trust God to provide the right jobs at the right time. 'Resting in the Lord' means being 'Confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it' (Philippians 1:6).

'Waiting patiently' means believing in your dream no matter what's happening--or not happening! In Genesis, God gave Joseph the dream of leading a nation. But Joseph didn't wake up as a ruler the next day. He was denounced, enslaved, and overlooked for many years. God was preparing him for the biggest job in the world.

Joseph's secret was active waiting. In every lowly position, he worked his hardest and looked for opportunities. He shared his gifts of leadership, administration, and dream interpretation. At the perfect time, Joseph became the second most powerful man in the world: the Governor of Egypt. He saved God's people from starvation.

Joseph lived among dream-hating brothers as a teen and dream-stopping circumstances as an adult. Was he tempted by doubt during those years? Did he think, 'What if my dream isn't from God?' 'What if God changed His mind?' Joseph chose faith over doubt.

He worked without complaint until his big break came.

If God chooses to give you a slower path to success, smaller roles on humbler stages, trust that His timing is right. Getting jobs quickly should not be your goal. Instead, keep your eyes on God, believe in your dream and forget the time clock. God will watch it for you.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
