Then God spoke all these words, saying, 'I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me.'
As born-again children of the Most High God, we are delivered from slavery. In our previous state without God, we were subject to Satan. Without Jesus, we were trapped by the consequences of sin. Alone, the smartest among us are no match for Satan's dark brilliance, nor can we climb out of the pits set before us.
We owe our lives to the God who created us, and we owe our freedom to Jesus Christ. Him, and only Him, shall we serve (see Luke 4:8).
As actors and artists, we do not love any agent, manager, casting director, star or role more than God.
We do not love money or fame more than God. We recognize deceitful riches and understand they are won on a road to ruin--one paved with vanity, pride, and the false belief that talent and stardom come from our own brilliance (see Mark 4:19). Convenience stores along this path carry aisles full of compromises.
How do we avoid the easy temptations of the entertainment industry, a.k.a. Hollywood? We become 'become strong in spirit' and 'mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people' (Luke 1:80,24:19).
We keep our focus on God, Who will deliver us out of every temptation (see 1 Corinthians 10:13). We know we have a job to do and a war to win, and we 'show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God' (2 Samuel 10:12).
Our love for God trumps everything--even Hollywood.
