God's Ten Commandments For Hollywood, #6
No Hatred, No Anger
You shall not murder.
Exodus 20:13 (NAS)
'Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him' (1 John 3:15).
What began as a commandment against murder, Jesus expands to include hatred and anger. 'But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment' (Matthew 5:22).
Who could a Christian hate in Hollywood? Who makes us angry? Could it be a heartless agent, the roommate who left you with the rent, or friends that disappointed you?
Maybe you're angry with dark stars, rude casting directors, or unrepentant sinners. The list of people who do wrong in Hollywood is vast, and only God can manage it. It's not your job.
Your job is to do what Jesus did: to love each and every sinner. 'And He has given us this command: 'Whoever loves God must also love his brother' (1 John 4:21).
You are to love the unlovable, including people who make you angry. You are to be the light in film, music, and fashion. You are to be the light at home. You are to be the light everywhere the lights are turned off.
If you feel angry, you have not sinned. Before you do, give it to God. Cast your anger on Him before it hardens to hatred in your heart. Only with His supernatural power of love in action can you truly succeed in the 'lights, camera and action' industry.
