Gotcha! King Con
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:3 (NIV)
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44 (NIV)
Surely, the king of gotcha is Satan, the sole owner of Gotcha Construction: the world's leading builder of traps and cons.

Meticulous plots are carefully planned and supervised by the devil himself... before his wily wares hit the market.

The devil's full-time staffers are demons: devoted to following their leader, faithfully adding to his bottom line--and sharing in his evident success.

The devil's part-time assistants are men. Seduced by short-term gratifications and unwilling to consider the cost, these hired hands pay far more than they receive.

The devil's preferred buyers are Christians: people who claim Jesus as their Savior. Because the King of kings defeated him, the king of con targets his Victor's kin... trapping the innocent and ignorant.

God put it this way: 'My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge' (Hosea 4:6, NASB).

So how can Christians learn Satan's gotchas without personal trial and error? Read God's Word and listen to His Spirit. (I'll be listing some common gotchas, too.)

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
