The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished.
For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.
Was pride the root of Satan's rebellion? Was he jealous of God's love for people? Did he feel insecure about his place? Was he angered by our unworthiness?
Did he think he could make better judgments? Is this how he convinced other angels to join his war against the Lord of Hosts?
If we pause a beat and consider it, doesn't pride stem from insecurity? We're determined to showcase our value...
Because deep down we feel hurt, weak or mad with circumstances beyond our control. Nor do we trust the One Who allowed them.
In our pride, are we human pufferfish, blowing ourselves up from fear of failure? Or camels that inflate to find a mate?
Consider some need-to-knows about pride:
1) Again and again throughout the Bible, the Lord promises proud people will fall.
2) Jesus chose to live a humble lifestyle as an Example for us to follow.
3) Pride is a balloon waiting to be popped, because hot air can only go so far.
