Hard Words To Hear
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, 'This is a hard saying; who can understand it?' ... From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.
John 6:60,66 (NKJV)
Jesus started with more than 12 disciples, but they were destined to be divided. How did it happen? Jesus told them something they did not understand--hard words to hear about what would become the act of Holy Communion.

These words were impossible to understand in human terms. They were a test in faith by Jesus, their Teacher and miracle worker.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Without faith, it is impossible to follow Christ. Even today, Jesus' words are like a fire that cleans us from the inside out. They are hard, 'quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even ... to the heart' (Hebrews 4:12).

Similarly, without faith, it is impossible to move forward in the talent industry. Sometimes, you will hear hard words: 'You didn't get a callback,' or 'You're not right for this job,' or 'Contact me in six months.' Are they true words?

They may be relatively true for a particular job or agent, and you may not understand them. At this point, you have a choice. You can continue to pursue your calling to the talent industry in faith, or you can turn 'back, and' walk in it 'no more.'

The dividing line is set (see Luke 12:51). The choice is yours. So, continue in faith. Continue your walk. Victory is sure for those who pass this test: the test of hard words to hear.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
