Highway To Hollywood
Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!
Isaiah 62:10 (NKJV)
Actors, models, and talent for Christ, God smiles at you. Our Father loves drama, comedy, dance, music, and action. The Book He authored is filled with rebels, royalty, risk takers, unexpected heroes, and supernatural adventure. But God is not smiling at today's entertainment industry,

'Because My people have forgotten Me, they have burned incense to worthless idols. And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in pathways and not on a highway' (Jeremiah 18:15).

Have today's stars forgotten God? Have they burned incense (paid homage) to worthless idols of money and celebrity? Have they caused themselves to stumble? Have they fallen from grace? Are they walking on a 'low road' of conduct, daring and not caring about the fans that follow them?

On the other hand, God has given His stars their marching orders; 'The path of the upright is a highway' (Proverbs 15:19), and we must walk on it right through the gates of Hollywood. It's waiting: 'A highway will be there, a roadway, and it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it' (Isaiah 35:8).

By standing up for what's right and Who's right, by acknowledging God, we prepare for others. We explode the myths of naughty performers by the power of God's love in action. We condemn no one. In truth, we offer a kind word, a good example, and a hand. We lift.

Not only do we lift people around us, we also lift a banner for those who watch us. What does this banner say? It says, 'Jesus loves us'--every prodigal, prostitute, stranger, beggar, addict, fallen star, and even us. He loves us remarkably and unconditionally. Even more, hope and joy await those who love Him back.

'The bright morning Star' (Revelation 22:16) lights up the highway to Hollywood. It's glowing. It says, 'Come, follow Me' (Matthew 19:21).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
